What is PENS?

In a nutshell, PENS (Package Exchange Notification Services) is a protocol to enable "single click publishing" of LMS-ready content between the systems that support elearning, such as authoring tools, LCMS, LMS, registries, and repositories.

PENS is an interoperability specification that makes it easier for content systems (CMS/LCMS) and learning management system (LMS) products to cooperate on the staging, transfer and submission of "LMS-ready" packages. The specification simplifies deployment of content for key elearning standards, supporting content packages and/or content metadata in either AICC or ADL SCORM content package formats.
