dominKnow LCMS 5.1 supports PENS: Just 90 days after being an observer at the first AICC PENS Plugfest, dominKnow releases dominKnow LCMS 5.1 with integrated support for PENS. PENS Test Tools Updated in Response to Plugfest Feedback: In response to feedback from the successful PENS Plugfest, the AICC has updated the PENS HTML Test Harness and PHP PENS Command Validator. The updated versions are online now from the PENS Sample HTML page on AICC.ORG.

Vendor Successes at First PENS Plugfest The AICC hosted a successful PENS Plugfest with interoperability demonstrations from Adobe, Eedo, OutStart and Questionmark (see photos here). Both OutStart and Eedo demonstrated implementations that both send and receive PENS commands to streamline content transfer to and from both LMS and LCMS environments. Thanks and congratulations to all who participated.

Adobe announces Captivate 2, which supports PENS: Adobe announces Captivate 2 (Press release). Congratulations to the Adobe team for being the first mass-market content tool to support the PENS specification. See the Adobe site for additional product information.

OutStart Announces PENS Support; Demonstrates Capabilities at the AICC/PENS Plugfest Conference: On September 18, 2006 OutStart announced that the Evolution LCMS (Learning Content Management System) supports PENS to allow automatic publishing of content both to and from the Evolution LCMS. OutStart also expressed their intent to demonstrate this functionality at the AICC PENS Plugfest, September 19-20 in Vancouver, British Columbia. AICC PENS Interoperability Plugfest Announced: The AICC formally announced a PENS Interoperability Plugfest scheduled for September 19-20, 2006 in conjunction with the AICC Meetings being held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (Meeting information). The PENS plugfest includes an open interoperability lab session for customers and vendors to verify PENS implementations with each other, and with the validation systems available from the AICC. The event also includes presentations from customers, vendors and the PENS Project team. The goal is to provide information for anyone interested in seeing and understanding the workflow, integration and automation capabilities enabled through PENS. e2train adds PENS to Kallidus LMS : e2train announced support for PENS in their Kallidus LMS. The addition of PENS means that, Kallidus users will easily be able to publish e-learning content and create training material to be delivered via the Kallidus LMS. e2train is a leading provider of learning systems and solutions an is based in Cirencester (UK). Anema — Ganesha LMS Demonstrates PENS Capabilties at Paris at the AICC/PENS Plugfest Conference: Ganesha is a Learning Management System (LMS) software made with PHP/MySQL. It is a free software (under GPL license) available from Anéma. At the June meeting in Paris of Learning Interoperability for Europe (LIfE) festival, there was a demonstration of dynamic content publishing using PENS with Ganesha. PENS Sample Code Updated: The PENS Sample Code has been updated to include PHP code that acts as a PENS server to verify PENS commands, and improve the HTML test harness. For more information or downloads see:
